We are thrilled to announce the release of the Oak + Oar x Blake Wheeler ’26’ Capsule Collection.
The capsule documents the 29-year-olds non-traditional journey to the National Hockey League where he has become one of the most dominate players in the league today.
Blake Wheeler’s tantalizing combination of speed, skill and play making abilities along with his involvement in the community has made him one of the pillars of the Winnipeg Jets and a fan favourite for many.
After leading Breck preparatory to a Minnesota State Championship, the then 17-year old was drafted 5th overall into the National Hockey League. Wheeler would attend the University of Minnesota where his name would be etched into the Golden Gopher history books, scoring the overtime game winner against the University of North Dakota and leading the U of M to a WCHA Championship. The right-winger has gone on to play over 500 games in the National Hockey League and represent his country at the Sochi Olympics as a member of the US National Team.
The Oak + Oar x Blake Wheeler capsule features a collection of three New Era 59Fifty® fitted caps. Each cap pays tribute to a keystone moment in Blake’s career; from his time at Breck preparatory in Golden Valley, Minnesota, being part of the return of professional hockey to Winnipeg, to signing a 6-year contract becoming a cornerstone piece of the Winnipeg Jets 2.0. Alongside the collection of New Era 59Fifty® fitted caps, is a limited run of tees offered in both black and heather grey. The shirts are crested with one of Blake’s first childhood hockey card depicting him as a member of the Wayzata Youth Hockey Association; where it all began.
The collection will release at the Oak + Oar flagship store located at 255 Vaughan St. in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on Saturday, November 28th, 2015 at 12pm CST with remaining inventory going online Tuesday Dec 1, 2015 at 10am CST.
10% of each sale made online and in-store will be donated to Siloam Mission in Winnipeg, Manitoba; an organization that alleviates hardships and provides opportunities for change for those affected by homelessness.
Check back tomorrow for a break down of each piece in the collection.
